Transforming Education Through ʻKeiki on the Rocksʻ

Keiki on the Rocks (KOTR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to revolutionizing education for Hawaiʻi’s keiki. By bridging the gap between classroom instruction and real-world experiences, KOTR ensures that every child has access to immersive, culturally grounded, and hands-on learning opportunities—no matter their circumstances. With a focus on underserved and underrepresented communities, the organization serves students, educators, and families throughout Hawaiʻi.

As someone raised in Mākaha, I draw inspiration from my deep love for my community and keiki. As a seasoned marketer and award-winning children’s author—recognized nationally in 2024—I am passionate about creating meaningful connections and transformative opportunities for Hawaiʻi’s youth. Founding KOTR was a natural extension of my commitment to education and cultural storytelling.

Our organization officially launched on November 2 with the inaugural Keiki Bash and is now actively seeking funds to expand its mission. Through field trips, workshops, and cultural storytelling sessions, we aim to ignite a love of discovery while connecting youth to Hawaiʻi’s rich cultural heritage.

KOTR was created in response to the challenges many educators face in organizing impactful, enriching activities for their students. By offering programs that inspire curiosity and connection, we strive to create learning experiences that leave a lasting impression on both keiki and their families.

A shining example of our impact was the 2024 Keiki Bash, themed “Aloha kekahi i kekahi” (Love One Another). Six young leaders from across west Oʻahu took center stage as co-hosts, gaining invaluable public speaking and leadership experience while engaging in cultural activities. A parent shared that their child left the event feeling more confident and motivated to help others—a testament to the life-changing potential of KOTR’s programs.

To continue creating these transformative experiences, KOTR relies on community support. Our annual Keiki Bash, alongside grants, donations, and partnerships, provides crucial funding to expand our initiatives. Every contribution—whether it’s a monetary donation, supplies, or volunteer time—helps us empower Hawaiʻi’s next generation of leaders.
